Sound Recording #2

Towards the end of the two weeks that we spent at Ty Canol, my work began to focus on applying a methodology or strategy to the recording of sound. Francois had told me that in Canada, the kind of work that I was involved in was called a ‘manoeuvre’, a strategy that resulted in an action. In my case I intended for my strategies to result in a 7" single, although I had few hopes for a Top 40 chart placing.

I began to make sound recordings using two strategies:

1. To walk through the Ty Canol woods recording exactly one second of sound at each pace.

2. To stay in the same place and record 1 second of sound each minute.
